NETSUITE SUITEWORLD 2013, SAN JOSE, Calif.—May 14, 2013— NetSuite Inc. (NYSE: N), the industry's leading provider of cloud-based financial / ERP software suites, today announced that Williams-Sonoma, Inc. (NYSE: WSM), the North America-based multi-channel retailer of high-quality products for the home, has selected NetSuite SuiteCommerce as the multi-channel retail and business management platform for its global expansion into Australia. Williams-Sonoma, Inc., based in San Francisco, California, went live on NetSuite SuiteCommerce on May 2nd to power four newly-launched and individually-branded ecommerce storefronts in Australia, combined with NetSuite Retail Anywhere POS as the point-of-sale solution for four new retail stores in the Bondi Junction suburb of Sydney, Australia.
The four stores in Australia are the first retail locations outside of North America to be owned and operated by Williams-Sonoma, Inc. as part of its overall global expansion strategy. The stores and websites for each of the brands—Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, and West Elm—were launched simultaneously in an integrated multi-channel approach. The stores and websites—www.williams-sonoma.com.au, www.potterybarn.com.au, www.potterybarnkids.com.au, and www.westelm.com.au—are all powered by a single, multi-channel solution, NetSuite SuiteCommerce. Williams-Sonoma, Inc. leveraged NetSuite's powerful, cloud-based ERP and CRM capabilities to reduce infrastructure investments and reduce deployment risk. Williams-Sonoma, Inc. implemented NetSuite's CRM capabilities to support customer care center sales and support functions and utilised NetSuite's ERP capabilities to manage procurement, order and inventory management, order reconciliation, fulfillment-based revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
In addition to rolling out core functionality to support the multi-site, multi-store deployment, Williams-Sonoma, Inc. leveraged the SuiteCloud Development Platform to extend the solution, including a custom logistics solution to manage international commercial freight and customs operations. The NetSuite deployment is integrated with Williams-Sonoma, Inc.'s existing U.S. infrastructure.
From planning to retail store opening, the entire roll-out of all these capabilities was delivered efficiently. The NetSuite solution has given Williams-Sonoma, Inc. critical speed, cost reduction and agility advantages to accelerate time to value from its multi-channel Australian initiative with flexibility to readily expand the solution to enter new global markets. The deployment of the NetSuite OneWorld global business solution provides Williams-Sonoma, Inc. with capabilities for international subsidiary management, global financial consolidation, transactions in more than 190 currencies and automated tax compliance in nearly 50 countries.
"We were looking for an agile platform that enables us to handle the complexity of global multi-channel commerce and we were impressed by the capabilities of NetSuite SuiteCommerce. From both a functionality standpoint and a technology perspective, NetSuite delivered a robust solution in a tight timeline," said John Strain, Williams-Sonoma CIO.
