Replacing a Patchwork of Systems to Build a Data-Driven Business

Crafting a niche: Crafter’s Companion has built an impressive niche in the “crafting” space, growing to sell a range of 10,000 products across 100 brands to a passionate, international customer base. A true omnichannel retailer, Crafter’s Companion sells via its website, shopping TV, social platforms and bricks-and-mortar stores. Today, it employs around 200 people in the UK and US.

Separate systems: In the early days of the business, Crafter’s Companion was using what founder Sara Davies described as “workarounds and sticking plaster solutions” to manage its financials, stock and inventory. What’s more, these functions were being managed across three separate systems, which meant the company couldn’t get the information it needed to make its next decisions.

Data-driven decisions: Following strong recommendations from its head of IT, Crafter’s Companion implemented NetSuite OneWorld as a single solution to manage its core functions across its UK and US operations. The effect was “life changing” for the business. Now, Crafter’s Companion could make decisions based on real-time data, and manage inventory effectively.

Single view: NetSuite gives Crafter’s Companion a single, unified view across inventory, finance, planning, logistics and operations. It is also integrated with the company’s ecommerce and shipping providers to improve operations and processes. Real-time feeds from NetSuite even allow TV presenters to adjust their presentations based on live sales data.
